End Addiction Hunt for Hope
In response to COVID precautions which restricted our ability to sponsor the annual End Heroin HSV Walk at Big Spring Park, we hosted our first End Addiction Hunt for Hope Scavenger Hunt over a two day period Feb. 26th and 27th. The response was just as we had hoped: fun for friends and family while adhering to social distancing guidelines, recognition of treatment and recovery resources in our area, distribution of the lifesaving drug Narcan, introduction of our parent coaches, and cash prizes to help stimulate our local economy. Feedback from participants has encouraged us to make this an annual event. Thank you to our gracious sponsors that helped make this event successful: T-Shirt and Swag Bag sponsors: Bradford Health Services, Crestwood Medical Center, Luminous Counseling and Consulting, Inc., Short Stop Screen Printing and Promotions, and Torch Technologies. November 2020 through January 2021 - For four consecutive years, Not One More Alabama (NOMA) has paid tribute to loved ones lost to the disease of addiction through our sponsorship of a Christmas tree on the annual Tinsel Trail at Big Spring Park in Downtown Huntsville. 2017 End Heroin HSV Walk is Huge Success!
September 2017 - Thanks to everyone who participated in the End Heroin Huntsville Walk. By all measures, it was truly a success. Our goal is to lift the vow of silence that has been associated with substance abuse and addiction so that we can help each other navigate this frightening journey. Success would have never been achieved without outstanding recognition by our local media and those of you that shared the event on your social media pages. We won't stop here.
#TurnTheTide"Many of us were even taught – incorrectly – that opioids are not addictive when prescribed for legitimate pain. The results have been devastating. Since 1999, opioid overdose deaths have quadrupled and opioid prescriptions have increased markedly – almost enough for every adult in America to have a bottle of pills. Yet the amount of pain reported by Americans has not changed. Now, nearly 2 million people in America have a prescription opioid use disorder, contributing to increased heroin use and the spread of HIV and hepatitis C. " - U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H.
