NOMA proudly introduces The Discovery Room — a Mobile Drug Education Trailer for Parents and the Community
The Discovery Room was built in 2018 in loving memory of Jay Barton, a 2002 graduate of Huntsville High School who tragically lost his life to addiction on July 5, 2016. This project honors his memory by providing parents and caregivers with a valuable tool in the fight against youth substance use.
Designed to resemble a typical teenager’s bedroom, the Discovery Room invites parents, educators, and caregivers to step inside and “discover” the often-hidden signs that may indicate a young person is using or concealing drugs. The experience encourages open awareness, proactive engagement, and ongoing vigilance in protecting the well-being of our youth.
The Discovery Room is the result of months of collaboration between Leadership Huntsville Small Group and Not One More Alabama (NOMA), made possible through the generous support of community partners including:
Torch Technologies
Bradley Law Firm
WHNT
Tom Jeffrey’s Sign and Banner
Sherwin Williams (Eric West)
James Carpets (Scarlett King)
Ed Gallup
The Saturday Morning Group
Greg Johnson.
Together, we are helping families recognize the signs, start the conversations, and strengthen our community’s response to addiction.
